How to Create a Manifestation Strategy That Actually Works

One of the most common misconceptions in the manifestation community is that manifestation is all about mindset—and nothing more.
Mindset is essential, yes. But once you’ve done the mindset work, you can’t just throw spaghetti at the wall and hope something sticks. If you want meaningful, lasting transformation—especially in the areas of life that matter most—you need a manifestation strategy that directly supports your desires and helps rewire the subconscious patterns keeping you stuck.
Why You Need a Manifestation Strategy
If you’ve been in the manifestation world for a while, you’ve likely come across popular phrases like:
“Don’t mess with the how.”
“Just imagine it, and it will come.”
“Take no action—just align.”
These ideas are often traced back to the teachings of Neville Goddard, a pioneer of the New Thought movement who taught that your imagination is the creative power of God. According to Goddard, you can manifest anything you want simply by imagining it vividly and consistently.
While this concept absolutely has value—and can work well for things you have little to no resistance to—it often falls short when applied to the deeper, more complex desires in our lives.
What Is Resistance (and Why It Matters)
In this context, resistance refers to the subconscious pushback you feel when your nervous system perceives a desire as unfamiliar, unsafe, or unattainable. This is where subconscious programming becomes a barrier.
Your subconscious governs about 95% of your thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs. So even if your conscious mind says, “I want this,” your subconscious might be signaling, “This isn’t safe,” based on past experiences, trauma, or societal conditioning.
And here’s the kicker: your subconscious will always win—unless you do the inner work to rewire it.

Example: One morning, I casually thought about manifesting a free cup of coffee. Fifteen minutes later, I walked into a local café that just so happened to be giving away coffee for free.
I had zero resistance to this desire, so it manifested quickly. But when it comes to the big things—career change, financial freedom, love, purpose—resistance is much more likely to show up.
Why Most of Us Aren’t Manifesting Coffee
Let’s be real: Most of us aren’t here to manifest freebies. We’re here to manifest freedom—in our time, our work, our relationships, our bodies, our choices.
When it comes to creating that level of holistic transformation, you need more than just good vibes. You need a strategy that supports you in becoming the version of yourself who already has the life you desire.
The Strategy That Works: Developing Your Aligned Alter Ego
In my 12 Guiding Stars System, one of the most effective tools I use for aligning the subconscious with your goals is the Alter Ego Method. This strategy involves identifying and embodying the mindset, habits, and energetic signature of a version of yourself (or someone else) who already has what you want.
Who Should You Look to? This could be:
* A friend or mentor you admire
* A well-known expert or entrepreneur
* A fictional character
* Or even your own future self
Start observing them closely for the attributes that have contributed most significantly to their success. Ask:
* What attitudes do they hold?
* What beliefs do they operate from?
* How do they spend their time?
* What kinds of habits and rituals support their success?
* Who do they surround themselves with?
* How do they speak about their goals?
You’re not just looking for external markers of success. You’re looking for the inner blueprint—the values, behaviors, and thoughts that shape their reality.
Your Homework: Define Your Alter Ego
Create a list of traits, habits, and beliefs based on the person (or version of yourself) you choose as inspiration. Working on adopting similar attributes should become the foundation of your manifestation strategy.
You’re not pretending to be someone you’re not.
You’re aligning with the version of you who already is.
Think of It Like a Grocery List…
Manifesting without a strategy is like going grocery shopping without a list—you end up throwing things into your cart, wandering the aisles, and coming home unsure of what you even bought. With a strategy, you move with purpose, make empowered decisions, and take aligned action that support your bigger vision.
This is the work that bridges the gap between mindset and embodiment. Next week, I’ll be back with a practice to help you become the version of you who naturally attracts what you desire. Until then, keep dreaming boldly—and keep shooting for the stars.
